Granby’s Green Acres was a 30-minute comedy radio show that focused on the life of John Granby, a former bank teller, and Martha Granby, his talkative wife. The couple left their life in the city to pursue a much easier, slower-paced life of a farmer. However, they did not expect what was there in the life of every farmer. Gale Gordon and Bea Benaderet played the roles of John Granby and Martha Granby, respectively.

Other stars in the show included Louise Ericsson as Janice, John and Martha’s daughter, and Parley Baer as Eb, their old-man hand. It was Jay Sommers who produced, wrote, and directed the show. Green Acres is one of my all time favourites!!! Gale Gordon is perfect in the role! Such a shame it was such a short lived series.

Featuring the complete existing series in very good high code sound. Long before the Green Acres TV program, there was this short lived series that was developed from characters played by Gale Gordon and Bea Benaderet on My Favorite Husband. While the characters names were changed, the basic characters remained the same. Gale Gordon plays John Granby. Bea Benaderet plays Martha Granby. Louise Erickson plays daughter Janice Granby. Parley Baer plays Eb, the hired hand. Also included in the cast is, Rye Bilsbury, Hans Conried, Horace Murphy, and Gail Bonney. Opie Cates is the music composer & conductor. Billy Gould & Ray Erlenborn provide the sound effects. Jay Sommers is the director and writer. Jack Harvey is a writer. Bob Shoe is the assistant director. Pat Walsh is the recording engineer. Bob Lemond and Johnny Jacobs are the announcers. The series was broadcast by CBS from March 30, 1950 to August 21, 1950.
