The Komedy Kingdom was among the earliest form of radio comedy and variety programs. Originally titled The Blue Monday Jamboree, it was first heard on-air in the late 1930s on CBS radio, with singer Elvia Allman as the host. Her long-time good friend Lindsay MacHarrie, on the other hand, was the director and producer.

The show, which had a total of 39 15-minute episodes, featured comedy skits, musical performances, drama, and a whole lot more. For every episode, a theme is followed. Samples of themes included royalty, marriage, sports, music, movies, love, etc. Click here to read more about Komedy Kingdom

Maureen O'Hara is One of my favorite actresses and I loved her in that movie! That was a sweet pirate costume for her!

Featuring the complete series that was syndicated by Transco in 1937 using many of the performers and material used on The Blue Monday Jamboree, which was a radio program running locally on KFRC in San Francisco, later on CBS and the Mutual-Don Lee West Coast Network from 1927 to the middle 1930s. Elvia Allman is the host. Performers include Al K. Hall, Morey Amsterdam, Mabel Todd. Lindsay MacHarrie was program producer, director or both.

KOMEDY KINGDOM

What do folks think of the Komedy Kingdom program? I got a set of the program ages ago and finally got around to listening to it. Elvia Allman isn't quite the queen of mirth as she's billed, BUT it's wonderful to hear such a talented character actress in a starring role.

Morey Amsterdam was a draw for me too. Elvia Allman's pleasant singing voice was a surprise. I've found it charming overalll. It was interesting on the "Gay 90's" episode to hear them remark "What will people think of the crazy 30s?"
