For the first time in their 8 years on the air Lum and Abner are separated. Chester Lauck who plays the role of Lum Edwards is on a vacation tour of Europe with Mrs Lauck and a group of friends. In London he’s pausing long enough to ring up hiss old friend Abner in Chicago played by Norris Goff who interrupted a fishing trip in Wisconsin to return to the air for this transatlantic broadcast. Continuing the story of their famous radio serial sponsored by the makers of Postum you’ll remember that when Lum and Abner signed off for the summer Lum was leaving for London to claim an inheritance supposedly left by some remote ancestor. He’s written Abner back home that he will telephone him from England to tell him about the inheritance.
