It’s been a long day and things were busy at the water department but it’s over now and the commissioner homeward plods his weary way. As he comes up the front walk, dusk is falling and the windows are aglow. Stepping over an upturned rake and kicking aside Leroy’s roller skates he enters the house and pauses to survey a pretty picture of contentment. Birdie is in the dinning room setting the table; Leroy is sprawled in front of the fire gnawing an apple and on the couch lays Marjory in a gentle swoon listening to the radio… |
