Armchair Detective takes its title from the literary device where the sleuth never visits the crime scene, never actually sees the evidence for himself. His only clues are what others have told him, and through powers of deduction he is able to solve the crime. Naturally, this format is ideal for radio, since the audience is in the same situation as the detective, and can often put together the clues themselves. In this version of Armchair Detective, all of the action takes place in just over three minutes, making the syndication an ideal filler for local broadcasters.
