Sherlock Holmes may have had the greatest deductive mind in crime fiction, but his real genius may have been the companions he attracted. Of course, there was Watson who narrated his stories, but even more interesting were The Baker Street Irregulars, a band of street urchins, children really, who were Holmes’ eyes on the streets of London and managed to be everywhere at once.
