Plot | : | + "The Laughing Killer". Sponsored by: Anchor Hocking Glass. A strange caliber gun is used to frame a man just out of prison. + Five years ago Arty Mattocks was an orchestra leader of one of the best sweep bands in the country before he met Gypsy Hibbert, a blues singer. He got hung up on her and wanted to marry her but she just used him to meet more important people. That’s how he became involved with Phil Blaney who at that time was a big shot in a gambling racket and fell for Gypsy. One night the police got a phone call to say there had been an accident in Gypsy’s apartment and when they got there they found Blaney with a bullet in his head. Arty was in the apartment and said Blaney had pulled a gun on him, that there had been a struggle. Gypsy gave the same story and she came out ok but Arty ended up in prison. Rumor had it that Gypsy had killed Blaney cold blood and Arty had covered for her. Shortly after Gypsy married Carbone who had taken over the gambling racket and now 5 years later Arty was out of jail and getting plastered in the Blue Note Café. |
