Casey Crime Photographer was an old time radio mystery based on the novels penned by George Harmon Coxe. Coxe first started writing in 1922 and took whatever projects in any literary genre that came his way in order to pay the bills. It was not until 1934 that he discovered a passion for writing detective mysteries and began a serialization in Black Mask magazine. Coxe's works focused on the adventures and drama in the life of "Flashgun" Jack Casey who was a crime beat photographer for the Morning Express. He often worked in tandem with the lovely and talented reporter, Ann Williams and had a good working relationship with police detective Captain Logan. The public loved the show so much that it was first adapted into films even before it was serialized on radio. It tooke several years to convince radio executives about the viability of adapting the novels into a radio series as they believed that the market was already saturated with detective mysteries. But in 1943 the characters made their way to the airwaves for the very first time on CBS Network. Throughout the years, the program was aired under different titles but the longest running was Casey Crime Photographer which aired from 1947-1950. Jack Casey was played by several radio talents like Matt Crowley, Jim Backus, and Staats Cotsworth while the charming Jan Miner portrayed the feisty reporter Ann Williams.
