However, his boss wants him to go straight. The program features an unusually sincere performance by Herbert Rudley as, "Ollie The Lug." The date above is the date of the first broadcast on WMGM, New York, from which this syndicated version may have been taken. There is a familiar adage that civilization like beauty is only skin deep. From time to time truth of this is offered in the person of people of whom the veneer of civilization has cracked if it ever existed for them. Ollie Barker was such a person. Ollie served his boss in several ways. One was in the collection of outstanding bills the other a direct outbreak of the first in the swift elimination of debtors who refused to pay. Ollie enjoyed his work particularly the later portion. To Ollie, death had no meaning when other people died… |
