This long running series, FBI in Peace and War, starred Martin Blaine as the infallible Field Agent Sheppard. The crime-busting series was not blessed with the actual bureau's approval like This Is Your FBI, but the unauthorized stories remained extremely popular.

The FBI in Peace and War featured a full orchestra theme song and was a first-name sponsorship and commercials. The story was often told from the viewpoint of the perpetrating criminals who were pursued by the FBI. The sound of their clattering teletype machines usually notified the listener that justice was near!

He did not know that a Russian composer wrote the theme song for that program for a number of years (March from "Love of 3 Oranges"). When he found out it was 'commie music' a nondescript theme replaced it. Guess Hoover did not know much about music.

It was broadcast by CBS from 1944 to 1958. While not approved by the FBI, as This is Your FBI was, it was still a great radio crime drama.

FBI IN PEACE & WAR

I am enjoying The FBI in Peace and War on the internet...I remember listening to it on radio because of the sponsor, Lava Soap...L..A...V...A followed by the familiar Love for Three Oranges. Looking it up in John Dunning's Encyclopedia of Old Time Radio, I saw that it was on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. which meant it came right after the Lone Ranger but was on CBS.
