+ Adventures of Major Keen is a thinking man's (or woman's) old time radio spy and espionage drama. Coming from Australia, this old time radio great from the late 1940s early 1950s, chronicled Major Keen, an MI5 spy during and after WWII. Before I go any further, I urge you to listen to the sample episode. Many old time radio listeners are sometimes a bit hesitant to listen to Australian or BBC old time radio shows, because they feel that the accents are sometimes tough to listen to. NOT the case here. Light accents, and the audio quality is crystal clear, so you won't have any trouble listening to this spy series. The Adventures of Major Keen revolved around two characters, Major Gregory George Keen, and Sgt. Tommy Coutts. During WWII they were British Commandos, and then after the war they became operatives for MI-5. MI-5 was the British counterespionage unit that was similar to our own FBI or CIA. This great old time radio show chronicled the very complicated and fully fleshed out cases they were working on. A lot of holes in the history of this show, but it's thought that there were 4 serial dramas produced. The one that we have here is the most famous, and to the best of our knowledge the only one that has survived, titled " The Dossier On Dumetrious". When we come across the other serials for this show, well get them on, but this is the only one that is complete at this time. The serials themselves are quite large! This one is 105 episodes, completely filling one MP3 CD. The Dossier on Dumetrious is the first serial of this series, taking place in London, post WWII. But the solving of this case will take Keen and Coutts all over the world. It has to do with a cache of hidden Nazi loot, that everyone wants to get their hands on. The sheer length of this series allows for both an exhaustive insight into the characters, but also a great story, again, exhaustive into the complexities of the tale.
