Let George Do It was a detective drama that aired from 1946 to 1954. It is about the story of George Valentine, a tough-guy detective who always prioritizes his job above anything else. Along with him is his secretary, the smart and sassy Ms. Claire Brooks (aka Brooksie), who sees him as someone special. Bob Bailey (and later Olan Soule in 1954) was given the role of Valentine, while Francis Robinson and Virginia Gregg took the character of Brooksie. Other characters in the show were Eddie Firestone as Brooksie’s younger brother Sonny, Wally Maher as Lieutenant Riley, and Joseph Kearns as Caleb.
During the first years of the film, the producers hired an organist for the transition of the scenes, and only very few sound effects were used. Later on, however, the show started using orchestra, and the production became a little more grand.
Let George Do It was considered to be a really excellent show, but Valentine wasn’t the role that Bob Bailey became famous for. Rather, it was Yours Truly Johnny Dollar, which he joined in 1955, a year after Let George Do It ended. Click here to read more about Let George Do It
