The series was based on S.S. Van Dine novels. It was broadcast on NBC in 1945 with Jose Ferrer as Philo, then was on the ABC West Coast Network with an unknown cast. The last series was a syndicated 1948-1950 ZIV series with Jackson Beck as Philo. Great detective melodrama.
