What's wrong with the suit of the man in the photo? The Herringbone Murder Case opened with the finding of the body of Edith Payne, dress shop owner. She had apparently been pushed under the wheels of a truck and a newspaper photographer passing by had snapped a picture almost immediately after the accident. No one in the crowd surrounding the body was identifiable. Later at the dress shop Philo Vance discovered a memorandum concerning the store manager Clair Collins left by the dead owner. Vance appears puzzled by a picture in the photograph of a man wearing a double-breasted suit. |
