The Magic Murder Case began when the great Mento theatrical magician was found in his locked dressing room with a knife planted firmly in his back. Nobody could have gotten in to or out of the dressing room yet Mento couldn’t possibly be a suicide. Philo Vance and District Attorney Markham have questioned Betty Anderson, Mento’s assistant and found that Mento had quarrelled with Pop Baker a craftsman catering to magicians. |
