The Saint radio show was a drama/detective show first heard on CBS in 1947. It featured the story of Simon Templar, otherwise known as “The Saint,” a detective who considers detection a form of art. The first choice to play The Saint was Tom Conway, but he declined, and the role went to the legendary Vincent Price. Also starred in the show was Lawrence Dobkin, who took the role of the cab driver who gets The Saint across the city. The old time radio show lasted until 1951. Some of the scripts written for The Saint formed the basis for many of the forty Saint novels that were written in French and translated into Dutch but have never appeared in English. The Saint's creator, Leslie Charteris, produced the first two series of the radio show of the same name.

Featuring Simon Templar, the "Robin Hood of Modern Crime." The radio series was based on Leslie Charteris, who wrote well over a hundred Saint novels. The novels were also adapted to several movies starring George Sanders, and a syndicated television series from 1963 to 1966 starring Roger (James Bond) Moore. There was also an American television version, starring Ian Ogilvy that was telecast by CBS from 1979 to 1980 called The Return of the Saint. The radio series was broadcast by NBC, CBS and Mutual at various times and dates from 1945 to 1951. The Saint was played on radio by Edgar Barrier (1945); Brian Aherne (1945); Vincent Price (1947-1951); Tom Conway (1951).
