| Plot | : | + It is 2:00pm the afternoon of October 17th 1926. Captain Clint Stansen of Texas Ranger Company B is seated in his office. Across the desk from him sits a woman sobbing bitterly. Mrs Wendle from Ames County tells him that her husband Edward was murdered by Ray Thorpe and he wasn’t even arrested The grand jury said that according to the evidence Thorpe killed her husband in self defence as three witnesses attested to that. Mrs Wendle knows they were lying as her husband never carried a gun. The lunchroom was deserted except for a young man who sat perched on a stool at the end of the counter. From time to time he looked up and stared out of the window in to the driving rainstorm and then his eyes wandered back to the newspaper spread out before him. |
