+ Michael "Mike" Hammer is a fictional detective created by the American author Mickey Spillane in the 1947 book I, the Jury (made into a movie in 1953 and 1982). A December 1952 to October 1954 Mutual Broadcasting System radio series titled That Hammer Guy starred Larry Haines then George Petrie and Ted DeCorsia as Mike Hammer and Jan Miner as Hammer's secretary Velda and the voice of other female characters on the show. Featuring all of the existing episodes of this crime drama which is based on Mickey Spillane's character. The character has been developed into movies, and so far a 1950s, and a 1980s television series. This radio series features Larry Haines as Hammer. Too bad there aren't more of these programs that exist, as well better sound. A couple years before Spillane died, a fellow who worked for him was helping him gather Spillane's material that was lost in the hurricane. It turned out Spillane himself never had better sounding copies of the programs here, as well he gave me a special recorded show which is in our ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO & TV series (see).
