AFRS program Name: "Mystery " The script was used previously on October 22, 1939 (as "The Haunted Cave"). This is the west coast broadcast, the east coast broadcast took place on April 15, 1944. The AFRS transcription has April 14, 1944 etched on the disc matrix. Professor Morley had taken his students to the Caverns and to a great natural hall known as the temple of Vulvan after the Roman god of fire because of a pit in the centre omitting seemingly harmless vapors. The circular crater was 100 feet in diameter with a bottomless pool of water and surrounded by a railing. But when the students leaned over for a better look the rail broke and all 17 students fell to the bottom of the pit. But was it an accident? Lamont Cranston wanted to investigate further as The Shadow... + Ellery Queen, master detective invites you to match wits with him as he relates another story of a crime he alone unraveled.
