Title | : | family theater (088) farewell to birdie mckeesler |
Air Date | : | 10.14.1948 ( October 14, 1948) |
Plot | : | The synopsis itself is fine, but the credits are slightly askew. The first 'actor' in your list, Jane Spee (who later went on to become, among other things, my mom), is not only misnamed (it's actually Speed), but mischaracterized. She's not an actor at all, but rather the writer, and as such, would probably make more sense at the end of the synopsis. But as the saying goes, don't take my word for it; here's a link to p. 47 of the 10/14/48 issue of The Youngstown Vindcator, previewing the evening's radio highlights: https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=iIVJAAAAIBAJ&sjid=iYQMAAAAIBAJ&pg=6165,5928369&dq=farewell-to-birdie+june+haver&hl=en If you drag the image upwards almost to the end of the listings, this is what you should find: 10:00 - WRRN - Film star June Haver will be the heroine for Jane Speed's drama, 'Farewell to Birdie McKister,' [sic] humorous story of an inefficient secretary-receptionist and her treatment of four bosses, to be presented on 'The Family Theater. I think that about covers it; thanks for taking the time. David Speed |
