+ The earliest airings of Favorite Story originated from the KFI, Hollywood station at which the entire series was recorded. The first sponsor, Bullock's Department Stores, was the early beneficiary of what had to have been a sweetheart deal for both Bullock's and Frederick Ziv. Ziv gained a high profile local sponsor for those first crucial thirteen episodes, and Bullock's launched what would eventually become one of the most successful independent syndications in broadcasting history. Called variously, My Favorite Story, Your Favorite Story or simply Favorite Story, those earliest broadcasts aired from as early as the Spring and late Summer of 1946. By the time that Ziv realized he had another winner on his hands, and the first fifty-two installments were pressed, Ziv fanned out his vaunted 100-man sales force throughout the U.S. and Canada. Those first sales of fifty-two installment packages resulted in another re-launch of the series throughout the U.S. and Canada during the Fall of 1947. Click here to read more about Favorite Story

This program featured radio adaptations of classic literature, both novel and short story. Each week a guest-star was asked to select a story to be used on the program. For example, Jane Crowl chose Brigadoon for the program of February 17, 1948. This ZIV syndicated program was heard on KFI-Los Angeles from June 25, 1946 to April 19, 1949. Early in the 1947 series, Ronald Colman became host for the program, and also appeared in many of the programs. Many Hollywood radio actors were heard on these programs including Hans Conried, Herb Butterfield, Lurene Tuttle, Byron Kane, William Conrad, Janet Waldo, Joseh Kearns, Jimmy Lydon, Eric Snowden, Norman Field, Gloria Gordon, Raymond Burr, Jeff Corey, John Beal, Helen Craig, Berry Kroeger, Edmund MacDonald, etc., Producers/directors & script adapters was Jerome Lawrence and Robert E Lee. Music provided by the Claude Sweeten Orchestra. Sound effects was provided by Jack Hayes.
