This was my great uncle. I was named after him. Love the story, but the attack was not done in the South Pacific or by the Japanese. His ship was hit by a German U-boat near Cuba. https://uboat.net/allies/merchants/ships/1403.html Thanks for posting the program. Our family loved it!

Yes, My uncle and great uncle, Elwood William Jackson and Robert Jackson served with your great uncle aboard the SS Tillie Lykes. The ship was sunk on June 28, 1942 by u-154 100 NM south of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. A few years ago a report surfaced that there was one survivor, Eldon Gallear.
