Spoiler : Ben Grauer is host of this NBC documentary & drama series from February 29, 1948 to September 29, 1951. The program was conceived as a "radio mirror" of contemporary American life. The programs ranged from straight statistical surveys, with George Gallup providing facts, at least on one program, to dramatic histories of The American Red Cross, to commentary by Fred Allen on the state of American humor. On some occasions, presidential candidates Earl Warren, Robert Taft, & Norman Thomas were given the complete show to express their views. It is claimed, that this series became The People Act on CBS, as production methods were virtually identical to the Living series. Dramatic cast came from New York Radio, including Grace Keddy, Barry Thompson, Marilyn Erskine, Charles Penman, Alexander Scourby, and many others. Often there were impersonators, such as Art Carney as retired General Dwight D Eisenhower. Announcer is Robert Warren. Music by Milton Katims. Directed by James Harvey.
