Air Date | : | 06.22.1936 |
Plot | : | + The Lux Radio Theatre. June 22, 1936. "The Dark Angel". Sponsored by: Lux. A melodrama of a love affair interrupted by the war and only slowed down by blindness. The program runs 62:30 and sounds on-speed. Perhaps it's a rehearsal. + A drama that takes place in 1915 when all of Europe trembled under the sounds of war. Kitty Vane, played by Merle Oberon, is in love with Alan Trent, played by Herbert Marshall. When he comes home on leave from France they arrange to be married. Unfortunately the inevitable telegram arrives from the War Office and he has to return to his regiment. To go further into the story would spoil your enjoyment so at this point I shall end. Suffice it to say the play makes compelling listening as did many of the wartime dramas made in the thirties. So sit back and let Cecil B. De Mille introduce you not only to the story but also to those celebrities who were present at the Lux Radio Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard on the night of June 22nd 1936. |
