During an intermission interview, Lou Gehrig predicts that the Yankees will win the World Series (he was correct). + Baseball story about a guy called Elmer Kane and his boss at the grocery store, Nelly Poole, who employs Elmer as a delivery driver. It begins in the Kane house in Gentryville Indiana, where Elmer’s brother can’t understand why his brother won’t sign for the New York Giants. Even Nelly thinks he shouldn’t pass up the opportunity. But what she doesn’t know is that Elmer is crazy about her and doesn’t want to go away ands leave her. Reviewed by Chas

God bless “Elmer the Great” The man who put Genntryville Indiana on the baseball map. I love the movie as kid.... I was hatched in 61 so I missed the radio broadcast of 1936. My pop and grandfather knew all about JoeE Brown and his baseball history. Joe”Ducky”Metwick was his favorite player and he had a Joe “Ducky”Metwick autograph baseball bat, I still have that bat. A million thank yous to the wonderful folks who keep this website up and running. If you have never listened to this radio broadcast I recommend it .. If you can make a copy MP3 and listen to it on a long car trip it is fantastic and funny and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside only a radio broadcast can. Remember to listen for the voice of the Great Lou Gehrig at intermission. Remember to look for the hit movie classic on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) on cable TV and now on TCM
