A madcap comedy as ever-helpful Gracie tries to help her banker husband land the big contract. + Brigid O’Shaunessy under the name of Miss Wanderlee had employed private detective Sam Spade to locate her sister who had run off with a guy named Floyd Thursby. Spade’s partner Miles Archer was killed whilst trailing him and then Spade discovers that Miss Wanderlee is not who she claimed she was but one of many dubious characters Sam Spade becomes mixed up with all of whom are seeking a black statue of a Maltese Falcon. + In this Lux Radio Theater version of Paramount’s comedy success Are Husbands Necessary George Burns works in a bank and Gracie considers it her duty as a wife to help his career along as if bankers didn’t have enough trouble on their hands already. Mr Jim and Mrs Jane Cougat are normal every day man and wife, well Mr Cougat is normal, his wife is either above or below, it’s hard to tell! |
