+ Now Hear This old time radio program broadcast by NBC in 1951 featuring US Navy adventures. Most of the stories were set in World War II, the dirty days of the early war. The experiences of sailors everywhere were related through the character know as Boats, a gruff salt with a no-nonsense attitude about the Navy. Boats told of marine landings, of underwater demolition teams, of the war in Aleutians, and of the Seabees in action. The signature was the sharp blast of the bosun's pipe, and the order of the day: the closing signature was likewise endowed, the bosum calling the "all hands secure until 1730 next Sunday" Text from The Encyclopedia of Old-Time Radio Click here to read more about Now Hear This
