| Plot | : | + "The Promise". The first show of the second series of, "Radio City " A miserable husband finally pushes his wife toward a bottle of poison. The program is also known as, "NBC Short Story." The script was subsequently used on "Radio City Playhouse" on May 30, 1949. + Jan Miner plays the part of Ella Prentice who is dominated by her cruel husband, Herbert. In a turn of fate whilst leaving a party he slips on some ice and the fall leaves him paralyzed and unable to walk but far from humbling him it makes him even more of a bully. But for how long can Ella take it.. + It is Pittsburgh a winters evening in 1938 and before a fireplace in one of the towns most beautiful rooms stands Herbert Prentis. He is in full evening dress a very tall very big handsome man. He looks at the clock it is exactly eight o’clock and his wife Ellen is ready on time but she is not wearing the white dress she got in Paris and her husband is not happy and refuses to take her to the party. Ellen prays not to be afraid of her husband and to be asleep when he arrives home but then receives a phone call. Her husband has been involved in an accident a very serious accident… |
