The Cavalcade of America featured events from American history, usually dramatizing the positive aspects of the nation’s past. Additionally, the show attempted to end criticism of its sponsor, the Du Pont Company. The corporation was viewed in a negative light because of profits made from producing gunpowder during World War I.
