Even though there was a great deal of isolationist sentiment in the United States after the Great Depression, folks in the know who had been watching the actions of Der Fuhrer realized that sooner or later War would touch America. Of course, if the War could be kept far away from our shores, so much the better. America Calling was a star studded radio event which featured nearly as much A-list Hollywood talent as an Oscar night broadcast. Produced with the sponsorship of the Greek War Relief Committee, the show was a demonstration that we did not want to get into the conflict, but if we had to, American would show a united and formidable force.
