Plot | : | +Father Coughlin network, WHBI, Newark, New Jersey aircheck. "Cash and Carry". The broadcast originates from The Shrine Of The Little Flower, Royal Oak, Michigan. A second talk against the proposed repeal of the arms embargo act. Father Coughlin predicts "Cash and Carry" will soon become a "Credit and Carry" policy, with American soldiers used to protect our investment. "Will we erase from our memories the international banker's carnival of corpses?" He predicts women and children will be put to work in war factories, while the men become "cannon fodder." He says that rents will be fixed by the government, transportation will become regulated. Many of Father Coughlin's predictions would be proved accurate. He quotes extensively from a book by Leo Cherne. Father Coughlin cries, "Onward, Christian Soldiers" and uses the imagery of Christ on the cross as being against the idea of "Cash and Carry." "The dripping, menacing hand of war draws ever nearer to our heart." He calls for a "march on Washington" to "demonstrate for peace." |
