I Can Hear It Now was a one-hour historical radio show that starred Edward Murrow, one of the best broadcast journalists America has ever had. Murrow gained popularity after his on-the-scene reports on World War II. The show started in 1950, and was heard every Friday nights at 9pm.
Already an achiever at a young age, Murrow was the president of both the student body and debate team. He started working at CBS in 1935 with William Shirer. When Austria was annexed by the Nazi Germany in 1938, Murrow, who was at Poland during at that time, flew all the way to Vienna to give an on-the-scene report for CBS. Such report was said to be groundbreaking. From then on, he was assigned to give live reports from Europe during WWII. One of his most notable reports was during The Blitz, that event when the Germans bombed the city of London.
After the Second World War, Murrow, who came to be really popular because of his reports, teamed up with Fred Friendly to create I Can Hear It Now. His show and career on CBS continued to blossom, until he was hired by then-President John F. Kennedy to become the Director of US Intelligence Agency.
