We, the People was a singular mix of humor, pathos, tragedy, sentiment, Hollywood glamour, and old-fashioned melodrama. It was considered a human interest show, but dealt with such bizarre occurrences that some of its stories would have fit into Ripley's Believe it or Not, and Ripley was one of its major competitors for stories. The series was first broadcast October 4, 1936, and last broadcast on radio was January 25, 1951. Over the years, the series was broadcast first by NBC- BLUE (10/4/1936-5/16/1937), then CBS (10/7/1937-9/22/1950), and NBC (9/28/1950-1/25/1951). Philips H Lord created the series. Hosts for the program was Phillips H' Lord 1936-1937, Gabriel Heatter from 1937- 1943, Milo Boulton by 1944, Dwight Weist by 1948, Dan Seymour in 1949, also Burgess Meredith & Eddie Dowling. Oscar Bradley provided the music while Gulf Oil was the sponsor.

WE THE PEOPLE

I'm looking for the 1947 Halloween, (Oct. 31?) broadcast of, "We the People", that was hosted by Dwight Weist. A guest on the show was Robert Nelson, whose company was called a "Ghost Factory", because of the special effects he sold to shows. This episode featured putting the studio audience in a "blackout", with spooky effects that scared the audience causing screams of laughter. Would very much like to know where/who could provide a recording of this program. Thanks!
