Much to the Mutual Network’s credit, they realized that there were more stories to appeal to youngsters than serials about cowboys, spacemen and super heroes. Adventure Parade turned to great literature to find inspiration for scripts. The program used a “closed serial” format, relating most of the stories during an entire week of five 15 minute broadcasts, although sometimes the serial format was set aside for a series of shorter tales. Designed for kids “from six to sixty”, the show aired in 1947.
