I remember reading this as a short story in some pulp book. In the written story the humans are on their way back to Earth. The Engineer is talking with the Captain. The Engineer says that he thinks they will all get along okay, after all, the aliens are a lot like Earthmen. The Captain asks why he thinks that. The Engineer replies that while they were training each other how to operate the ship they kept exchanging dirty jokes.

A much better version of this story is broadcast on X-1, 10/6/1955, starring Wendell Holmes and Bob Hastings, two outstanding radio actors. X-1 is one of the great radio programs in OTR history, the quality of the productions, directions, acting, and scripts written by Ernest Kinoy and George Lefferts, is the pinnacle of the Golden Age of Radio.
