Although the Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) was able to create some of its own content, either using military personnel or the voluntary efforts of Hollywood celebrities, many of the broadcasts were original commercial network fare that had been “decommercialized” for the service. The programs were usually recorded on robust disks for distribution to military broadcasters around the world.
