Black Chapel was a 15-minute horror series first aired on Columbia Network in 1937. It was heard every tuesday and friday nights, allowing each episodes’ climax to hit just in time at midnight. The show’s star was the “hooded figure” played by Ted Osborne who, just like Don Douglas in Black Castle, portrayed all the characters in each featured story. Although Black Chapel had lots of similarities to Black Castle, it was still able to win an originality award, as it was more diabolical and daring compared to the latter.
