I Love a Mystery was a radio show that featured a mix of mystery, drama, and adventure. First heard on NBC West Coast on January 16, 1939, and considered one of the best adventure radio shows ever, it followed the adventures of three unlikely heroes: Detectives Reggie York, Doc Long, and Jack Packard of the A-1 Detective Agency. These detectives were based on Alexandre Dumas’ Three Musketeers-- Aramis, Porthos, and Athos. Jack Packard’s character is considered the best of the three, as he was always the first to solve the crime. Doc Long, on the other hand, is the group’s comedian, while Reggie York is the most physically strong. Together, they make money by solving mysteries.
Throughout the show’s run, a number of actors have played the role of Jack, Doc, and Reggie. The show was on-air until 1953. Click here to read more about I Love A Mystery
