The policemen who discover him decide to call him Drury after the lane in London in which he was discovered. They give him a roll at Scotland yard to help him get back on his feet. He takes to the work and after a dozen years he has worked his way up to be a fully fledged Scotland Yard investigator. Still his past remains completely hidden to him until one day he is sent to investigate a case in Devon. |
