A classic Cornell Woolrich story with a vivid atmosphere of the darker side of 1940s New York. Definitely has taken a little more than inspiration from Ethel Lina White/Alfred Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes, with a girl vanishing under seemingly impossible circumstances and then everyone but the hero denying her existence. Suspense at it's best!
