Plot | : | + "Nightmare". Sponsored by: Auto-Lite. A good story about a father who is seeking revenge on the hit-and-run driver who killed his son on a mountain road. A different story with the same name was previously produced on "Suspense" on March 13, 1948 (see cat. #24152). +This is a network, sponsored version of cat. #24176. The National Safety Council presents an award to the program and Auto-Lite for "the year's outstanding highway safety program." The middle commercial is a total disaster. Fred Dearborn of the National Safety Council presents the award to Royce Martin (president of Auto-Lite). Mr. Martin first loses his place in his very brief script and there's eleven seconds of dead air (perhaps caused by a loss of audio on the network). He then thanks the "National Security Council" for the award! + They say every nightmare has a prelude something that inspired it, something that happened or almost happened that your innermost mind seizes upon. It lives there in the back of your head and it multiplies itself and fattens on tiny fears until it’s grown in to a monstrous horror and then when it’s full sized with dread it springs out on us in the darkness of night when you’re defenceless in sleep. The prelude to his nightmare occurred at six o’clock that evening on the 3rd of July… |
