Plot | : | + "The Lodger". The story of a very unusual "lodger." Is he really Jack the Ripper? The story was previously produced on "Suspense" on December 14, 1944. + The story is set in London in the year 1888, a London terrorized by the fifth in a succession of horrible murders, murders of young attractive women. The unknown killer at large and little else absorbed the horrified imaginations of the great city. Of all those in fine quarters and of all those in small grimy houses as for example Ellen Bunting. Ellen was no different from all the other middle-aged housewives dwelling in London’s squalid Whitechapel district. She knew all the known facts of the case of the wielder of the night who had come to be known as The Avenger. Robert Montgomery stars as Narrator and the Lodger in Suspense’s 1948 hour-long version of The Lodger. He also starred in the 30-minute version of the same story in 1944. The Lodger first aired on 21st July 1940 as the audition show for Suspense. |
