When that fails, a little murder finds its way into the script. At 43, Don Carlton knew his popularity as a romantic motion picture star was failing that he was on his way out. He knew that he must do something, something spectacular insuring national publicity and a sympathetic reaction from the public. So, Don decides on marriage, marriage to lovely young Dulcie Winslow, whom Don is certain will soon be a top star. He's equally certain that marriage to Dulcie will be a great boost to his box office value. He decides to begin his campaign immediately, to spend the next four weeks in romantic courtship. Dulcie is already fond of Don and grateful to him because he helped her in her first part, introduced her to the right people. And now, Don is enjoying a leisurely breakfast in his own apartment and he smiles recalling her affectionate attitude from the evening before when he took her to dinner to celebrate the final day of shooting of her first big part in a major picture. He's still smiling as he enjoys his final sip of coffee. |
