Plot: + CBS Pacific net. "Confession". Sponsored by: Signal Oil (limerick contest). A gangster on the lam takes refuge on a ship under an assumed name. A doctor who remembers his from the old days complicates things, and so does a coffin! The story title is similar but the stories are different. The group around Dr Roark’s bed moved away as he beckoned with his last remaining breath indicated that he wanted to be alone with his son. It was all right the nurse decided because his son James was a doctor himself. James sat on the edge of the bed and listened at what his father had to say. It was an amazing story, something the dying man had to clear up. It wasn’t really his own story but that of one Tony Delgano former public enemy number one… One of the credits is for Ira Grossel who took the stage name Jeff Chandler. Jeff Chandler was born into a Jewish family as Ira Grossel in Brooklyn.NY.on December 15,1918.

THE WHISTLER didn’t list actor credits for the first four years. In mid-1946 it began to credit the lead actors and slowly began mentioning a few secondary actors. I believe it was only in 1951 that both THE WHISTLER and SUSPENSE began announcing all actors in the cast. And yet some shows like LET GEORGE DO IT, as early as 1948, were announcing not only all the actors but also the role each one played. So many shows had different policies. By about 1953 it was quite common for most radio shows to give a full cast at the end, unless the show was running a little over. Then the actor credits were the first to go.

Thank you. Gerald Mohr had a great radio voice. My other fav is William Conrad, but there are so many more.

was listening to an episode of the Whistler (great show) 430131 (E038) The Confession and the protagonist sounded like Gerald Mohr.

For some reason I can't stand the whistler! I occasionally sympathize with the protagonist and every time (formula) they end up losing. Sometimes I'm rooting for the person that quits the job robs the safe of the jerk boss and steals the car and heads west.

Last summer I listened to a block of The Whistler for two hours straight each day for a week. It changed my mood, I guess it's too dark and too real, it made me cranky and angry
