Plot | : | + CBS Pacific net. "Treasure Hunt". Sponsored by: Signal Oil. Grandpa Randolph hid $200,000 before he died, leaving behind a clue as to its location. Announcer Marvin Miller assures listeners that Signal Oil "re-arranges atoms" to make better gasoline. Signal does not split them for atomic bombs! Looking in to the future life of Robert Bolton and then back at the portion he’s already lived we find it neatly divided in to two halves, divided by a matchstick. The first half was exciting, he lived by his wits and because they were extraordinary wits he managed to dodge, double in his tracks like a smart football avoiding tackles and keep one jump ahead of the law. The second half began when the train he was arriving on pulled out of the siding in a little town of Redmond in Northern California…If it were possible somehow to stand at some point in the distant future and look back at the life of Robert Bolton we’d find it neatly divided in to two halves, divided by a matchstick. The first half was successful; Robert was an egotist whose egomania led him to believe that because he’d given the world the ecstatic pleasure of his company for thirty-two years it owed him a living in return. He lived by his wits and because they were extraordinary wits he managed to dodge, double in his tracks like a smart half-back avoiding tacklers and keep one jump ahead of the law and then one day shortly after the train he was riding on pulled in to the little country town of Redmond Robert standing on the station platform put a cigarette in to his mouth and reached in to his pocket for a match. The pocket was empty. He shrugged and strolled across the street tot the general merchandise store to buy a box and overheard a conversation, which would decide the course of his life…If it were possible somehow to stand at some point in the distant future and look back at the life of Robert Bolton we’d find it neatly divided in to two halves, divided by a matchstick.
