Smilin’ Ed McConnell and the Aladdin Lamp company found a different formula to reach housewives. Rather than getting them hooked into an emotional serial like the Soaps, Ed seduced them with his sincere “Hello Honey Doll...” The four and a half minute spots managed to weave in a pitch for the iconic oil lamps as well as those new fangled electric light fixtures.
1937 syndicated series with Smilin' Ed McConnell. The series was syndicated by NBC Orthacoustic transcriptions for Aladdin Lamps (The Mantle Lamp Company of America, Chicago). Produced by William Hart Adler Inc. Click here to read more about Aladdin Lamp
