Austo-Hungarian operettist Sigmund Romberg gave us The Student Prince (1924), The Desert Song (1926) and The New Moon (1928). His career in America got an early kick when the Shubert Brothers called on him to write the scores for their musicals and reviews. Many of these were vehicles for the immortal Al Jolson.
