If our nostalgia for the Second World War era had a sound track, the singers on the happy parts of the scene would be the Andrews Sisters. Given that LaVerne, Maxine and Patty were actual sisters and still managed to have the wholesome pin-up beauty of a redhead, blonde and brunette would have been enough to keep any group of GIs at a slow boil, but when you add their tight harmonies and happy tunes you have the ingredients which will remind any American son what he is fighting for. Although the Andrews Sisters were very much a product of their times, their music is still influential today, being covered by acts as important as Bette Midler and Christina Aguilera. I really enjoyed these ladies. They sang everything from pop to country. They even cut a record with Ernest Tubb.
