After WWII, hillbilly music moved out of Appalachia and became popular from coast to coast. Arthur Smith’s career started out as a Dixieland outfit with his brothers, but after the War they found great success using a Hillbilly format with several projects reaching a national audience, Arthur Smith’s Country Store was filled with happy music and cracker barrel humor, sponsored by Cheer Detergent.
