“Ma Bell” knew they had a good thing going. Not only did they have a monopoly on phone service for most of the twentieth century, tthe company was well known as a bastion of culture with their long running Bell Telephone Hour, bringing classical music to the masses. The show was so well done timeless that the company was able to bring it back unchanged in the Sixties.
